CEC preliminary results: GD’s Tbilisi Mayoral candidate Kaladze won 45,5%, UNM’s Melia – 34, 13%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) published the preliminary results of the October 2 local elections.

Based on the data, Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Kakha Kaladze won 45,5% of voters in the Georgian capital, while the Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) Nika Melia – 34,13%.

Giorgi Gakharia, the candidate of For Georgia party secured 8.97% of the votes. The candidates of the opposition UNM party are leading in 2 out of 5 self-governing cities – Kutaisi and Batumi.

The run-off of the mayoral elections will be held in 5 cities: Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Poti and Batumi.

The local elections were held on October 2 in Georgia.
