TI Georgia to publish observation results of October 2 elections

Transparency International Georgia published the observation results of the October 2 local elections. The organization delegated 300 election observers to monitor the elections across the country.

TI Georgia said the pre-election period and the E-day analysis shows that the government lacks the political will to conduct the elections in line with high democratic standards.

The organization detected about 160 minor or relatively serious violations and filed 30 complaints. It demanded annulling of results from 2 polling stations in Marneuli (Kvemo Kartli region).

TI Georgia observed violation of the campaigning rule within 100-meter perimeter, different cases of intimidation, balloting confidentiality, violence, alleged voter bribery, pressure, obstruction to journalists’ activities, etc.
